Why Choose This Tieguanyin?

+

This is a light-style Tieguanyin for people who love floral, refreshing oolongs.

Instead of deep roasting or heavier oxidation, this tea focuses on the fresh orchid fragrance that made Anxi Tieguanyin famous. The cup is silky, bright, and gently sweet, with a clean finish that feels lifted rather than heavy.

It is a good choice if you enjoy green tea’s freshness but want more aroma and texture, or if you are curious about oolong tea but do not want something roasted, woody, or intense.

Think of it as the floral, elegant side of oolong: fragrant, smooth, and easy to return to cup after cup.

Light Oxidation, Bright Orchid Aroma

+

After withering, the fresh leaves are gently tossed in a traditional bamboo drum.

This light tossing bruises the leaf edges just enough to begin gentle oxidation, while keeping the center of the leaf green and fresh. It is one of the key steps that brings out Tieguanyin’s signature orchid fragrance.

Because the oxidation is light, the tea stays bright, clean, and refreshing, with a golden-green liquor and a floral aroma that feels lifted rather than heavy.

Cloth-Wrapped Rolling

+

After light oxidation, the leaves are wrapped tightly in cloth and rolled into firm bundles.

This repeated wrapping and rolling helps shape Tieguanyin into its classic semi-ball form. It also gently presses the leaves, building texture and helping the aroma become more concentrated.

This step gives the tea its dense leaf shape, smooth mouthfeel, and lasting fragrance in the cup.

Cultivar — Tieguanyin

+

Tieguanyin is both the name of a tea style and the cultivar used to make it.

This batch is made from the traditional Tieguanyin cultivar grown in Anxi, Fujian. The leaves are thick and glossy, with a natural tendency toward orchid-like fragrance when processed as oolong.

For this tea, the leaves are picked at a more mature stage — usually one bud with two to three open leaves. This gives the tea more structure and aroma than very tender buds alone.

The result is a light-style Tieguanyin with clear orchid fragrance, silky texture, and a lingering sweet finish.
