Meet Your Host
Hi, I'm Shirley.
I studied Tea Science in China (B.S. & M.S.)
and now host small tea gatherings in Seattle, bringing together sourcing stories,
guided tastings, and relaxed conversations.
Tea doesn't have to be intimidating.
It just needs a place to begin.

Why People Love These Gatherings
-
Learn to Taste, Not Just Drink
Learn what to notice beyond “good” or “bad.” Our tasting cards highlight aroma, texture, sweetness, and finish, while simple tea cards introduce each tea’s origin and craftsmanship—making every cup easier to understand and enjoy.
-
Side-by-Side Comparisons
The fastest way to understand tea is to taste it in context. By comparing two teas side by side, subtle differences in aroma, texture, sweetness, and finish become surprisingly easy to notice—turning abstract descriptions into something you can actually experience.
-
Conversations Beyond Tea
Every gathering brings together people with different backgrounds, experiences, and reasons for showing up. Tea becomes the starting point for conversations about travel, food memories, culture, and everyday life—often lasting long after the last cup is poured.

FAQ
How long does the experience last?
Most sessions take place in meeting rooms at Seattle neighborhood library branches. Locations and registration details are shared by email at least 10 days in advance.
Where are the gatherings held?
Most sessions take place in meeting rooms at Seattle public libraries. Locations and registration details are shared by email at least 10 days in advance.
Do I need any tea experience?
Not at all. Every gathering is designed around the experience level of the guests, so whether it’s your first cup of loose leaf tea or you’ve been brewing for years, you’ll feel right at home.
What happens during a tea gathering?
We brew tea together, taste side by side, and explore the stories behind each cup—from where the leaves were grown and how they were crafted to the people, seasons, and places that shaped them.
How many people join each session?
To keep the experience personal and conversational, gatherings are limited to 6 participants.
What kinds of teas will we taste?
The selection changes with the season and the theme of each gathering. Spring and summer often feature green teas and lightly oxidized oolongs, while autumn and winter may explore black teas, pu’er, and other styles. The featured teas are announced in advance.
Do you serve the same teas every time?
No. Each gathering is built around a different theme or comparison. Some teas come from the Brew & Blossom collection, while others are from my personal sourcing and tasting collection, making every session a little different.
